I had the same problem at Spice Route too.
The place looks impressive with their sleek deco and furnitures. However, the service was horrible and we had to wait forever to get our bill too. And they got one of our dishes wrong... but we ate it anyway, cuz the food took so long to come out.

Great for partying,
Great for entertaining,
not so great for eating

Been to this place about a dozen times now since it opened. Only had dinner once, and it was a laugh. But the nightlife is great.

You're very welcome, Nicole. I agree, I've seen an obvious change in service at a couple of other Summer/Winter/licious spots, which doesn't make sense at all.

Be sure to come back and let me know how you liked Spice Route!! It was the hot spot for the "Burn After Reading" after-party during the Toronto International Film Festival!

As you cannot judge a book by its cover, and I did assume that this place would be pretentious at the least, I still must try it for myself (steering away from the menu items you so graciously advised were no good!). However to the defence of the Spice (or lack of) Route, I had dined at a couple other "posh" restaurants for the Summerlicious menu.... I must say, they were all rude when they realized you were having a pre-set meal. What is the point of having a promotional event when the industry is not even making your possibly first impression at this spot inviting????

Well, I attempt this Spice Route you speak of this weekend, hopefully I don't get Sebastian!

Thanks for the insight!!

Hey Christina! Great to see ya again (as Andrew would say, aGAAIN). :) Mmm....maybe it was gai-lan - I have no idea. It was crunchy for sure, but it didn't have any leaf or flower buds attached to it...it was just the stem/stalk.

How are ya??!! Hope to see more of you soon. Tell Hobo to update his blog.

Hi Smita!! My my, it's been a while since i've had time to check out any blogs... you've posted so much! I must catch up.

I thought I'd comment though cause I think your random veggie might be chinese broccoli ("gai-lan"). Was the stalk crunchy and a little bit bitter? And did it have a large leaf attached to it or perhaps small flower buds? If so, I think that's it. =)

Hope you're doing well. I will try and catch up on your food adventures soon!!
